Art League Houston’s (ALH) mission is to connect the community through diverse, dynamic and creative experiences that bring people together to see, make and talk about contemporary art.

ALH is dedicated to ensuring its exhibitions, education, and community-based programs are inclusive and reflective of Houston’s diverse community at large. The design and implementation of these programs are driven by a commitment to accessibility, lifelong learning, and service to the greater Houston community.

ALH continues to be committed to presenting artist-centered programs designed to re-imagine the role of an Art League model to foster radical imagination, empathy, and impact positive social change through the arts.

Flexible Access Program

Thank you for supporting the Art League School’s Flexible Access Program!

Your donation is helping with the growth of this education program.

Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.

Flexible Access is a program focused on providing continuing education opportunities through pay-what-you-can visual art courses for ages 17 and up. In 2022, ALH kicked off a multi-year initiative to re-imagine the role of an Art League School to foster radical imagination, reduce economic barriers to art education and impact positive social change through the arts. This program marks the start of a larger initiative to prioritize arts access and equity taking place at the ALH school.

At the Art League School, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment is a top priority. The school's mission is to foster an artistic community where individuals can come together to learn, share their knowledge, and explore new ideas and techniques through the creative process. Through this exploration, students are encouraged to develop their own unique style, leading to personal and artistic growth that extends beyond the classroom. The goal is to instill a love for creativity that lasts a lifetime.

The Art League School offers adults of all backgrounds and skill levels a range of lifelong learning opportunities in arts education. Established in 1968, it currently serves over 1,200 students each year through studio art classes and workshops led by professional artist instructors.
