In this class you will be learning hand-building construction techniques, students will create a variety of functional pottery forms including mugs, vases, and bowls. Students will also learn about textures, surface patterns, and designs on their pieces. Emphasis will be on good craftsmanship and functional forms. Underglazes and application techniques will be demonstrated, such as sgraffito, inlay & transfers, Glaze education, and proper application for a beautifully finished piece. This class is limited to 8 students.

Studio 1

This workshop will explore Cuttlefish Bone Casting and casting into wet straw (broom casting) as well as casting into alternative materials (pine cones, twigs, etc). Students may cast in Sterling Silver or Fine Silver. The instructor will have casting scrap available at spot price in 1 oz increments. Once castings are completed they can be incorporated with stone settings or cut into sections to embellish other constructions. Due to safety considerations all students must wear closed-toe, leather shoes while casting.  Open to intermediate to advanced students with torch skills.
