In this class, students will learn how to turn plastic waste into yarn (a.k.a “plarn”) and explore textile-based creative applications of the material. Basic crochet, weaving, collage, and sashiko stitching techniques will be covered. Possible projects include bags, mats, and 2-D artworks. Along the way, we will also discuss and share resources about plastic pollution and opportunities for environmental care and activism.
